Role of Lokayukta in combating Corruption and Mal-administration and measures for strengthening these Institutions

Now a days, corruption has penetrated deep in every sphere of society and it is considered to be part of the system. At administrative level the roots of corruption are very strong.  Corruption not only adversely affects the social, economical and political structure of the State, but also destroys the democratic values and its ideals.   In absence of transparency and accountability, corruption grows rapidly.  In the process of development corruption eats away the fruits of progress.  It is the responsibility of the State to adopt adequate measures to eradicate this menace from the administration.

It shall be the endeavor of the Lokayukta office to create awareness among the people of the State to report the matter of mal-administration, corruption, abuse of power etc., before the Lokayukta for the redressal of their grievances.

Every complaint shall be accompanied by the complainant’s own affidavit in support thereof and also affidavits of all persons from whom he claims to have received information of facts relating to accusation, verified before an Oath Commissioner/  Public Notary/ Magistrate 1St Class  together with all documents in his possession or power pertaining to the accusation.

The state of Haryana has taken a lead in bringing within the purview of Lokayukta all the public servants including the Chief Minister in order to bring transparency in administration and to inspire the confidence of the people of Haryana in the administration.

The people of Haryana, therefore, should fearlessly bring to the notice of Lokayukta all matters of nepotism, mal-administration, corruption and abuse of power to combat this menace from the society. Their cooperation is of the utmost importance for serving the cause for which this institution has been created.
